By 1995 it formed a new Spanish entity for its forklift business with Nissan Forklift Espana S.A., after separating from Nissan Motor Iberica. in North America officially opened in 1993, merging forklift manufacturing and sales activities. Nissan expanded its forklift business into Spain with the establishment of Nissan Motor Ibercia S.A in 1989. of the United States to begin local manufacturing of its forklifts inside the U.S. In 1988 it acquired Barrett Industrial Trucks Inc. Nissan was manufacturing its forklifts for U.S. In 1961, via an assembly line in its Japanese Totsuka Plant, Nissan began the mass production of forklifts under the company Shinnikkokukogyo Co. Nissan produced its very first forklift truck in 1957. In 2013, Nissan Forklift Corporation changed it’s name to UniCarriers Americas and became a subsidiary of UniCarriers Corporation, a new company entity partially owned by Nissan Motor LTD. Until 2013, Nissan Forklift Corporation was a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co. Under the Nissan Forklift brand, it produces engine-powered and electric-powered forklifts, including cushion forklifts, pneumatic forklifts, pallet stackers, pallet trucks, order selectors, reach trucks, and tow tractors. Nissan Forklift, for more than fifty years, has been a global provider of high performance forklift and material handling equipment.
